MIT Program on Internet and Telecoms Convergence (ITC) research aims to further the Internet's evolution by clearly identifying an evolving array of technical, economic, or policy-related hurdles. The ITC team articulates relevant approaches to these hurdles to global Internet access, then shapes solutions in conjunction with industry partners.

ITC's methods are interdisciplinary: academics and industry leaders collaborate on difficult problems that can't be solved by engineers, policy makers, or industry strategists alone. Through this process, ITC participants gain valuable insight into the marketplace and policy contexts of evolving Internet technology.

Research is organized around three key areas of the Internet: user devices, network access, and global backbone transport. ITC holds semi-annual members-only conferences to share new research and member perspectives.
